Rocky Mount, NC
Brian “BLP” was born on May 12, 1965 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina to the late Callie Pittman Jones.
He attended Rocky Mount City schools and graduated in June 1984 from Rocky Mount Senior High. While in high school he was employed by the Carlton House. Upon graduation he began working with Rocky Mount Mills. After leaving the Mills, he began his career with the State of North Carolina. While with the State, he worked at North Carolina State University in the maintenance department, UNC Public Television then on to UNC Rex Healthcare where he worked diligently until his health began to fail him. As we all know, Brian loved to work and truly missed not being able to work and the camaraderie he had with his work family. Let’s not forget that he was a self-made entrepreneur selling his flashing and blinking ice cubes, cups and other party paraphernalia.
He enjoyed being with friends and family, partying, dancing (doing the electric slide), flying kites, cooking on the grill, throwing his famous garage parties and when not doing those activities he enjoyed sitting, relaxing, listening to FOXY, DJ Heavy in the garage, playing cards “Push” and customizing his “electric blue Dodge Ram”.
But above all that he loved to put on a three piece suit from PJ’s and going to the club with friends and family. Dressing sharp was not his only goal, when he stepped out he was a dapper guy, dancing and electric sliding the night away. He was a dedicated and devoted member to the Masonic Lodge New Alliance #769. As a member of the Lodge he made sure the Lodge was clean and kept in order. He made and sold his special Masonic Canes (black and white stripped) that had a special meaning. He enjoyed the many sponsored events the Lodge held. To him it was a way to give back to the community and reach out and help and support others.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Latosha; and son, Aaron both of Raleigh, NC; daughter Takeshia of Nashville, NC; siblings, Milton Pittman (Dia) of Townson, MD, Pamela Gunter of Rocky Mount, NC, William Cooper of Nashville, NC, Licole Cooper (Linwood) of Rocky Mount, NC, Laura Harrison (Ray) and Wilma Battle (Carl) of Rocky Mount, NC; mother-in-law, Gertha Battle of Rocky Mount, NC; sisters-in-law, Linda Outerbridge (Thomas) of Newark, NJ, Cynthia Battle of Evansboro, Ill, Theresa L. Jackson of Hamilton, NJ; brothers-in-law, Curtis Battle (Brenda) of Blackwood, NJ, Wayne Battle of Rocky Mount, NC; special brother-in-law, Levy Gunter of Rocky Mount, NC; special friends that were dear to him: Gregory “Greg” Covington, Tony Ebron, Arthur Harris, Milton Davis and Eric Moore; his UNC Rex Healthcare Facility Services family and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and f

I want to send my deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. Brian Pittman.
The bible tells us we can gain comfort from God, especially during times of sorrow. We pray to our heavenly father for help to cope with the sorrow felt from the death of a loved one.
By prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6
May you find comfort by relying on our heavenly father and learning more about the blessings of God's kingdom.

We are so sorry to hear about Brian's passing. During this sad time, may your family find true comfort from God's promises for the future as recorded in the Bible at Revelation 21:3,4 and John 5:28,29. These scriptures describe a time when we will be reunited with our loved ones, to live under perfect conditions. It is our sincere hope that these divine promises help to sustain your family in the days to come. Take care.
