Mr. Theodore Short

Mr. Theodore Short, Sr., 83, of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, son of the late Sally Vincent Short and Alfred Short, was born on December 16, 1933 in Northampton County North Carolina.

He received his education through the public schools of Northampton County.

At an early age, he confessed faith in Christ and joined New Jerusalem Holiness Church where his membership remained until his health failed.

He is now reunited with his wife: Viola Short; his two sons: Theodore Short, Jr. and Charlie James Short; his daughter: Mary Ann Limpson; four brothers: Woodrow Short, Johnny Short, Alfred Short and Ernest Short; and two sisters: Caroline Davis and Priscilla Hicks.

Peacefully, he departed this life on March 27, 2017 at his home.

Theodore had a very good sense of humor; he could turn a cry into a laugh. He could also get down on his “harmonica”.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Anita Jones (Jerome) of Weldon, NC, Mary Dailey (Frank) of Weldon, NC, Woodrow Wayne Short of Harrisburg, PA, Yolanda Callahan of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Eric Short of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Alfred Short of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Leo Short of Roanoke Rapids, NC, James Lee Short of the home, and Latrina Shearin (Derrick) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; three grandchildren that he raised as his own: Metokia Short, Eric Short, Jr., and Sherita Short; two brothers: George Short (Mary) of Richmond, VA and Lawrence Short (Jean) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; four sisters-in-law: Annie Squire (Henry) of Emporia, VA, Selena Taylor and Shirley Floyd of Gaston, NC, and Marie Manning (Bishop Manning) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; two brothers-in-law: Charles Ingram (Jeanette) of Gaston, NC and Willie Ingram (Lisa) of Gaston, NC; three special caretakers: Shirlene Tillery, his grandson, Micheal Short, both of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and KD of Rocky Mount, NC; 28 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Visitation for Mr. Short will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with the Funeral Service following the Visitation, beginning at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at New Jerusalem Holiness Church in Garysburg, NC. The Interment will take place immediately after the Service in Lillie's Chapel Church Cemetery in Garysburg, NC.
