Mrs. Evelyn D. Richardson, 68, of Waldorf, Maryland and formerly of Edgecombe County, North Carolina, died on Wednesday, April 12, 2017.

A Time to be Born
Evelyn Lyons Richardson was born in Edgecombe County, Battleboro, North Carolina on May 4, 1948 to the late George and Pauline Moore Lyons.

A Time to Learn
Evelyn attended public school in Edgecombe County, graduating from Phillips High School in 1966. She attended North Carolina Central University, graduating in 1970.

A Time in Life
Evelyn married Christopher Clyde Richardson of Hollister, North Carolina. She was a diehard sport fan and loved The Pittsburgh Steelers.

A Time of Labor
Evelyn worked in the Connecticut School System, Edgecombe County School System and retired from the Maryland School System at Avalon Elementary, Temple Hills, Maryland. Evelyn relished the many hours she spent coaching and developing young minds.

A Time to Serve
Evelyn accepted Christ at an early age and started her Christian journey at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and later attended Mount Ennon Baptist Church, Clinton, Maryland.

A Time to Die
Evelyn was called to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 12, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Pauline Moore Lyons.

A Time to Mourn
Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter: Paula Elizabeth Richardson and son: Robert Richardson of Waldorf, MD; one grandchild: Jamel Richardson of Waldorf, MD; one sister: Joyce Truitt of High Point, NC; two brothers: Claude Lyons (Bettie) of Durham, NC and George Lyons, Jr. (Lisa) of Fairfax, VA, four aunts: Carrie Lyons Cofield of Whitakers, NC, Ann Moore Thorpe of Kernersville, NC, Mattie Moore of Philadelphia, PA, and Celeste Lyons of Battleboro, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Visitation for Mrs. Richardson will be held from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 pm, with the Funeral Service following the Visitation, beginning at 1:00 pm, on Monday, April 17, 2017, at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Scotland Neck, NC. The Interment will take place immediately after the Service in the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Scotland Neck, NC.

These professional services have been entrusted to H.D. Pope Funeral Home, located at 520 Smith Church Road in Roanoke Rapids, NC.
