Obituary

Charlotte, NC

Byron Denard Howington, was born in Edgecombe County, NC on August 23, 1985 to Patricia J. Howington and the late James A. Davis. He transitioned from this earthly life on May 3, 2017, in Charlotte, NC.

Bryon had accepted Christ and was baptized by Pastor Oliver R. Washington, of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, Whitakers, NC.

He was a 2003 graduate of North Edgecombe High School. Byron loved life and always wanted to excel. He moved to Charlotte, NC in 2016 to pursue a new job opportunity. He was employed for several months McGee Enterprises before moving forward with a new endeavor.

Byron was preceded in death by his father, James Davis, maternal grandfather Jerry Howington, Sr.; maternal uncle James Lyons, Jr.; paternal aunt Joyce Davis, niece Idasia Howington and cousin Stanley Howington.

He was lovingly know by his friends and family as “B”. Byron never met a stranger, and cared for all those around him. He was a wonderful son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and a great friend to all. His favorite past times were playing basketball and fixing up his old cars, Old School and Box Chevy.

He leaves to cherish his memories his caring and devoted mother, Patricia Howington, of Whitakers; one daughter, Ah’Nirey Howington of Tarboro, NC; four brothers, Eric Howington and Jeremy Howington of Whitakers, NC; Courtney Howington (Latora) of Charlotte, NC; and Jammal Ellis of Rocky Mount, NC; two sisters Ashley Davis and Jasmine Washington of Battleboro, NC; maternal grandparent Ida Howington of Whitakers, NC, and paternal grandparents, James and Gladys Davis of Battleboro, NC; maternal aunts, Doris Howington, Janice Gary, and Jacqueline Lyons, and maternal uncle, Jerry Howington, all of Whitakers, NC; paternal uncles Melvin Sessoms of Washington DC; Warren Woodley of York, PA; Alton Davis of Battleboro, NC; paternal aunts, Gloria-Umfield-Clark of Hampton, VA; Thelma Cherry (John) of Rocky Mount, NC; Gwendolyn Horton (Robert) of Rocky Mount; Brenda Davis and Debra Braswell (Tony) of Battleboro, NC, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Visitation for Mr. Howington will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the Funeral Service following the Visitation, beginning at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Jerusalem Baptist Church, located at 426 Cutchin Street, in Whitakers, NC. The Interment will take place immediately after the Service in Whitakers Cemetery in Whitakers, NC.
