Obituary

Rocky Mount, NC

Alexander Lucas was born September 9, 1946 to the late Frank Lucas and Clevester Sumnler Lucas. He isproceeded in death of siblings Catherine McNeil, Mattie
Lee Shelly, Louise Johnson, Calvin Lucas, Carrie Hunter,and Samuel Lucas.

Alexander attended the Rocky Mount Public Schools and graduated from Booker T.Washington High School in 1965. He was called to serve in the U.S. Army on August
11, 1966. He later attended Edgecombe Community College where he received his Associate Degree in Business Administration. He was a retiree of Bridgestone/
Firestone Tire Plant in Wilson, North Carolina.

He was an active member serving as Esq. of the Twin County Elks Lodge # 257 for approximately twelve years.He really enjoyed life and was a huge blessing to others.
He served his community in various ways and he loved his family to the upmost.

He leaves to cherish his memory brother, Bobby Lucas of Rocky Mount, NC where their bond was truly a brotherhood like none other. Nieces and nephews that were raised
in the home like sisters and brothers, Cynthia Lucas,Joseph Lucas, Lavoris Basemore, Reginald D. Lucas, and Jessie Earl McNeil all of Rocky Mount. Two step son’s that
he raised as his own Robert Earl “June” (Camille) Deans ofWest Georgia and Ronald Edwards of Wilson, NC. Five grandchildren, Shane King of Rocky Mount, Bob Deans,
Alexandria Deans, Victoria Deans, and Isabella Deans all of West Georgia; one great grandchild Alisa Deans of Rocky Mount, NC; a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews,
great nephews, relatives and friends. He will be deeply
missed.

A Visitation for Mr. Lucas will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2017, in the Rocky Mount Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon, on Friday, October 27, 2017, at St. James Baptist Church, 527 E. Thomas St in Rocky Mount, N.C. The Interment will take place following the service in Gardens of Gethsemane in Rocky Mount, NC.
