It is with great sadness that the family of Richard Rick Werner announces he closed his eyes and slipped into the waiting arms of his savior on November 21st 2017.
Rick was predeceased by his parents Albert and Mabel Werner Brothers George Werner and Clifford Winters sisters Audrey Schmidt and Virginia Enderlin.
He is survived by his remaining brother Robert Werner of Point Pleasant New Jersey and many nieces and nephews throughout the country.
Rick served his country in both Germany and Vietnam and was an Army veteran. He never talked much about his time there. An artist at heart he would send cartoon strips home of himself and others of his platoon. Once home he struggled to come to terms with what he went through there and the reactions of those at home to his service.
Though he held many jobs throughout his lifetime if asked he would tell you
"I work for a Jewish Carpenter". He spent many days on the Makita conch River in communion with his savior trying to overcome his demons and the faith he gained from that time helped him to heal and reach out to others.
A private memorial service for the family is planned at a later date in New Jersey.
Service arrangements were entrusted to H.D. Pope Funeral Home, located at 325 Nash Street in Rocky Mount, NC.

My Prayers are with the family, as I leave you with this comforting scripture.2 Corinthians 1: 3, 4 (3) Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, (4) who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God.
