Mrs. Sandra Gilliam

On Sunday, January 7, 2018 our heavenly father called Sandra W. Gilliam home to rest.
Sandra was born on August 28, 1950 in Newport News,Virginia to the late John Henry Wilson and Pauline Daniel Wilson.

Sandra Gilliam was a graduate of George Washington Carver High School in Newport News, Virginia. Sandra grew up in church and was a faithful member of First Baptist East

After graduating Sandra moved to New Jersey where later married Johnnie Gilliam, Sr.
Sandra attended Essex County College in Newark, New Jersey where she earned her degree in Business and Accounting. Sandra worked in sales for several companies
in New York City establishing blueprints and business plans.

Upon retiring in 2005, Sandra and Johnnie Gilliam, Sr. relocated to North Carolina where she joined Union Hill Baptist Church.

Sandra was an outgoing and passionate woman who loved the Lord, her family and friends, fashion, shopping, sewing,singing and attending church.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Gloria Adams, and Barbara Gilliam.

She leaves to cherish fond memories her devoted husband of forty-nine years, Johnnie Gilliam Sr., two sons, Johnnie Braxton Jr., and Marlin Lamont Gilliam, three grandchildren,
Johnnie IV, Nyla, Kaylin; one sister, Ruthy Fields; one brother, John Henry Wilson, Jr. and a host of nieces,nephews, cousins, family and friends.

A Visitation for Mrs. Gilliam will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with the Funeral Service following the Visitation, beginning at 11:00 am on Friday, January 12, 2018 in the Rocky Mount Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home, 325 Nash St., Rocky Mount, NC.
