Obituary

Rocky Mount, NC

George Thomas Diggs aka “Juni” was born on February 22, 1942 in Washington, DC. He was the loving and devoted son of the late George and Catherine Diggs.

George attended public schools in Prince George's County, Maryland and graduated in 1960 from Frederick Douglass High School. He attended the University of Maryland, Princess Anne Maryland.

He commenced his professional career with numerous jobs before his employment with St. Elizabeth Hospital in Washington, DC, until his retirement.

George was united in marriage to Gloria Windsor on October 22, 1962. This marriage was blessed with a son, Nathaniel Tyrone Diggs preceded him in death.

George was a loving and generous person who dearly loved his family. He attended church since childhood and became an Acolyte at St. Simon Episcopal Mission. Later on in life he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and was baptized in His name.

George expressed a desire to venture out and live in another state other than Maryland. In June of 2005, he decided that North Carolina was his best choice. So he and his wife moved to Rocky Mount, North Carolina where he was residing at the time of his death. Upon locating to Rocky Mount, North Carolina, he along with his wife, united in fellowship with Truth Tabernacle Ministries under the leadership of Bishop Haywood Parker and Co-Pastor, Wanda Parker.

George was preceded in death by a special sister, Barbara Gray; father and mother-in-law, John and Leora Windsor; sisters-in-law, Vivian Diggs and Ernestine Johnson; brothers-in-law, James and John Windsor.

George leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Gloria Diggs; daughter,Belinda Richardson; sister, Janice Diggs; daughter-in-law, Marcelina Diggs; grandchildren, Danesha Tiarra and Nathaniel Tyrone Diggs, III (Marcellina), Robin, Jr., and Andrea Richardson (Belinda); great grandchildren, Damiyah Williams (Danesha) and Andy E. Wokeme, Jr. (Andrea); sister-in-law, Ann Windsor; brothers-in-law, Herman Windsor and William Diggs, Sr., and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Visitation for Mr. Diggs will be held from 7:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at in the Rocky Mount Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home, located at 325 Nash Street in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Hodges-Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, 3910 Silver Hill Road, in Suitland, Maryland. The Interment will take place immediately after the Service in Washington National Cemetery in Suitland, MD.
