Mr. Dexter L. "Dex" Pitt

Dexter Lamond Pitt entered this world at Tarboro Hospital on May 23rd, 1973 to his loving mother, Patricia Pitt-Davis. He departed this life, to his eternal rest on March 9th, 2018, a day that we will forever carry in our hearts, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Gladis Gorham, his two aunts, Agnes, and Louetta Gorham, and his niece, Kenya Lawrence.

Dexter was a product of the Rocky Mount Public School System. Completing his education in 1991, as a graduate of Rocky Mount Senior High.

Dexter, affectionately known as, "Dex", possessed a heart of pure gold. There wasn't anything that he wouldn't do for anyone who expressed a need for his helping hand. He had a heart for people, and expressed it in numerous ways as he journeyed through this life. "

Dex" had a great love for the Rastafarian culture, and the Rastafari Colors that he represented every chance he could. Accompanied by his love for Reggae Music.
"Dex" carried many priorities, goals, and aspirations, both internally, and externally, but the one that was most evident, and prevalent was Family. Above his love for his family, "Dex" had a jewel that he carried daily in his heart, portraying a love that was irreplaceable for his beloved mother, which was his "Heart in Human Form, Patricia.

He leaves to cherish his love, and memories his loving mother, Patricia Pitt-Davis(Bobby) of Rocky Mount, NC, Father, Linwood Earl Cooper(Lizzie), Wilson, NC, Grandmother, Katie Battle, Rocky Mount, NC, Four sisters, Shonda Staton of Atlanta, GA, Latrisha Staton of Rocky Mount, NC, Jackie, and Teresa Hall of NC, One step-sister, Kateaka(Michael) McGee, of NC, four aunts, Bessie Tyler (VA), Mary (Pete), Hagans, NC, Ann Gorham, (NC), and Debbie Gorham, (NC), three uncles, Benjamin Gorham (TX), Charlie
Gorham (NC), Jervona (Terry) Gorham, (CA), three nieces, three nephews, 1 great nephew, and a host of many relatives, and friends, His significant other, better known to Dex, as the Love of His Life, Jesaka Williams, (NC), and one special cousin, Tony Tyler, (VA). This is the legacy of Dexter's family that he loved beyond compare.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Pitt will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Rocky Mount chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home.
