Obituary

Rocky Mount, NC

Richard Carroll Parker was born on April 13, 1947 to the late Willie Buck Lindsey and the late Edith Parker Artis in Wilson County, North Carolina. He departed this life peacefully
surrounded by family and friends on May 1, 2018.

Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Jean Horne; step-fathers, Javis T. Artis and James R. Cobb, and step-brother, Larry D. Artis.

Richard attended Wilson County schools. He was employed by Bridgestone/Firestone Tire Manufacturing Facility in Wilson, North Carolina from the time the plant opened until
his health lead to his early retirement in 2005.

Richard accepted the salvation of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in 2010 and became a member of Thorne's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Knowing that he was saved made his mother very happy.

Richard was a people person, and was most happy when he was around family and friends. He immensely enjoyed playing card games and listening to oldies but goodies music with his friends.

He was always ready and willing to help anyone in any way he could and loved to visit his family members, especially his aunts and sister.

Cherishing his memory are the love of his life, his wife of twenty-one years Hilda; sister, Jacqueline Williams (Anthony); aunts, Dorothy Braswell and Inez Rountree (Jesse); father-in-law, Percy Lucas; sisters-in-law Cheryl Pippen (Troy) and Denise Artis; brothers-in-law, Donald and Kevin Farmer; step-daughter, Deborah Boykin; godson,C. Phillip Flowers, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Parker will be at 11:00 am, on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Thornes Chapel Baptist Church, 1624 Windsor Drive, in Rocky Mount, NC. The Interment will take place immediately after the Service in Rocky Mount Memorial Park in Rocky Mount,NC.
