Roanoke Rapids, NC

Mr. Louis E. Sneed, 76, of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, was born to the late Roy and Virginia Sneed on May 21, 1942. He attended the Halifax County Public School and graduated from John Armstrong Chaloner High School with the Class of 1960.

After high school, Louis moved to Roselle, New Jersey where he worked for United Steel Rule Company and Matthew Corporation where he learned the trade of die making. During that time, Lou started his own business, L-S Steel Rule Die, Inc. in 1984. He employed up to 20 people at a time. He sold his business in 2006 and worked for Unity as a consultant until his retirement in 2014.

Once retired, he moved back to Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina where he had his dream home built. Lou Loved working in his yard and especially his ponds. Louis loved being outdoors.

On Monday afternoon, May 28, 2018, Louis E. Sneed peacefully departed this earthly life.

In addition to his parents, Roy and Virginia Sneed, Louis was preceded in death by his son: Jeffery Sneed; five brothers: McKinley, Elbert, Clarence Wendell, Azor, and Samuel; and three sisters: Althenia Sneed Easter, Doris Woodard, and Nora Evans.

Those left to cherish his memory and continue his legacy are his dear friend: Lorraine Hardy of Roanoke Rapids, NC; daughters: Gwendolyn Sneed of Phillipsburg, NJ and Valerie Sneed of North Brunswick, NJ; step-daughter: Shamona Paterson of Somerset, NJ; son: LouVon Sneed of Menlo Park, NJ four grandsons: Tyrese Sneed, Leshawn Sneed, Shaquan Gray, and Jeffery Sneed, Jr.; three granddaughters: Darnetta Gray, Jennifer Sneed, and Leani Stafford; one brother: Jonas Sneed (Linda) of Littleton, NC; five sisters: Cornelia Stamper (Aaron) and Odell Allen, both of Roselle, NJ, Leona Moore of Dallas, GA, and Katrenia Logan and Mermestine Putney of Roanoke Rapids, NC; and a host of great-grands, nieces, nephews and many other friends.

A Visitation for Mr. Sneed will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Roanoke Rapids Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018, in the Roanoke Rapids Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home, 520 Smith Church Road in Roanoke Rapids, NC. The Interment will take place immediately after the Service in Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, N.C.
