He came and stood beside you, and whispered “Come and Rest.”
You bid no one a last farewell not even a goodbye.
You were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why.

On Sunday, October 15, 2017, Ms. Linda Ann Sumler, heard the voice of Jesus say “come unto me and rest. Lay down thou weary one, lay down thou head upon my breast.”
Linda Ann Sumler was born on March 8, 1951 in Nash County,North Carolina to the late Eddie and Odessa Staton-Sumler.

She was educated in the Nash County Public School System and Wilson Community College. She was a member of the last graduating class from the original Nash Central High School Class of 1969.

She was a devoted sister, aunt and a dedicated member of St. Paul Baptist Church.

Linda was employed with the Rocky Mount Kidney Center where she retired after fifteen years of service.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenny and Eddie Jr.; three sisters, Dorothy Mae, Doris and Magdalene and a special nephew, Thaddeus Sumler.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one sister, Brenda Richardson (Robert) of the home; one sister-in-law, two aunts, one uncle, three nephews, Russell, Robert Jr., and Jerome; four nieces, Shelia, Cassandra, Shaquita and Ciji; four special cousins,Katrina Joyner, Nathan Alston, Edith White and Bobby Ray Staton; a special family, Fred Clark and Faye Williams and family; special friends, Maxine, Nary Alice, Roxie, Pat and Gwen and a host of great nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.

A Visitation for Ms. Sumler will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., on Friday, October 20, 2017, in the Rocky Mount Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at St. Paul Baptist Church, 1151 N. Winstead Ave in Rocky Mount, NC. The Interment will take place immediately after the Service in Rocky Mount Memorial Park in Rocky Mount, NC.
