Mr. Leroy Robinson

Mr. Leroy Robinson, 60, of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and son of the late Fred and Revie Scott Robinson, was born on April 21, 1957 in Northampton County, North Carolina. He was well-known as “Booley Boy”.

He received his education through the Halifax County Public Schools. After graduation in 1975, Leroy Robinson met his future wife, Katherine Battle of Battleboro, North Carolina and they married on October 29, 1977. To this union, one child, Fenisa Michelle Robinson, was born.

He enlisted in active duty with the United States Army – 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, North Carolina on April 25, 1983. While serving his country, he earned numerous Badges, a Ribbon, and a Medal. They are as follows: Rifle M-16 Marksman, Hand Grenade Expert, 45 Caliber Expert, and an Army Service Ribbon. He earned an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for his deployment to war in Grenada that began on October 25, 1983, that resulted in a U.S. Victory on December 15, 1983.

In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Outerbridge, and brother, Leon “Boochie” Robinson.

Peacefully on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, his work here was done and he was called to eternal rest at Signature Healthcare in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

He leaves behind memories to be cherished by his wife: Katherine Robinson of Battleboro, NC; two daughters: Fenisa Michelle Robinson of Rocky Mount, NC and Lerosha Lynette Smith of Newark, NJ; three grandchildren: Kayla Lashae Williams and Jasmyn Nicole Williams of Rocky Mount, NC and Rizyah Guy of Newark, NJ; five sisters: Violet Squire of Garysburg, NC, Hazel Byrd of Garysburg, NC, Audrey Robinson of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Doretha Robinson of Gaston, NC and Patricia Ann Washington of Weldon, NC; aunt: Evelyn Kelly of Stanford, CT; great-aunt: Susan Jones of Roanoke Rapids, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and a special devoted friend: Queen Ann Edwards.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Robinson will be held at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, November 11, 2017, in the Roanoke Rapids Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home.
