Mrs. Florence A. Rodgers



Rocky Mount, NC

On June 4, 1930, Florence Wilkins Rodgers entered the world to her parents, the late Lemon and Dollie Wilkins in Halifax County, North Carolina.

She attended Halifax County Public Schools and worked a number of jobs throughout her life.

Florence was a devoted wife of the late Joseph Rogers and a loving mother of one son, George David Wilkins who preceded her in death.

Florence was a member of Mount Zion First Baptist Church and was faithful in attending until her health declined, but she sneaked to church every chance she got.

In addition to her husband and son, Florence was preceded in death by three brothers, Cecil Wilkins, Samuel Wilkins and William Wilkins “Pie” and one sister Mildred Handrum.

She leaves to cherish her memory to five sisters, Hattie Mae Bryant (Jesse), Katie Bell (Joe), Josephine Wilkins, Doretha Bell (William) and Evangelist Mary W. Dickens (Binnie); one brother, Lemon Wilkins, Jr. along with a host of nieces and nephews.

A Visitation for Mrs. Rodgers will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with the Funeral Service following the Visitation, beginning at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 19, 2017 in the Rocky Mount Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home, 325 Nash St., Rocky Mount, NC. The Interment will take place immediately after the Service in Northeastern Cemetery in Rocky Mount, NC.
