Mrs. Rebecca B. Cutts

Mrs. Rebecca Belinda Cutts, 74, of Halifax, North Carolina, died on Tuesday, December 5, 2017.

Rebecca, lovingly known to all as “Linda”, was born to the late Merlin Hill, Sr. and Lizzie Jones Hill on April 19, 1943 in Halifax County, North Carolina.

She received her education through Weldon City Schools, graduating from Ralph J. Bunche High School in 1962.

At an early age, she joined First Baptist Church in Halifax, North Carolina, serving as a Sunday School Teacher and Choir member. In later years, she joined First Baptist Church in Enfield, North Carolina. She served as Chairperson of the Social Committee until her health began to fail.

She was married to George K. Cutts from 1976 until his death in 1982. Upon moving back to North Carolina after the death of her husband, she attended Halifax Community College and received her Cosmetology License in 1987. She worked as a Cosmetologist at Soft-N-Beautiful Salon in Weldon, North Carolina until early retirement in 2002.

Linda enjoyed cooking, sewing, and crocheting in her spare time, as well as, loving on her grandchildren that lovingly called her Granny.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother: Merlin Hill, Jr. and a sister: Patricia Hill Cowan, as well as, her oldest daughter: Monique Williams.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters: Timisha M. Williams (Jaquan) of the home and LaKisha Kearney-Shaw (Anthony) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; her grandchildren: Xavier (Michell) of Greensboro, NC, Jahlaun of the home, Ariyana, Elijzah, and Emoni of Roanoke Rapids, NC; a great-granddaughter: Lay’Ah Monique of Winston Salem, NC; a god-son: Ralph Moody of Roanoke Rapids, NC; four sisters: Marjorie Joyner of Rocky Mount, NC, Shirley Washington of Shreveport, LA, Queen McBride (Atlee) of Clinton, MD and Edith Green of Brooklyn, NY; one brother: Bobby Hill of Halifax, NC; two aunts: Annie Anthony of Richmond, VA and Glendora Higginbotham (Tommy) of Philadelphia, PA; two adopted sons-at-heart: Leland Davis (Judy) of New Carrollton, MD and Rev. Alvin Harmon of Raleigh, NC; her companion of many years: Theodore Pittman of Rocky Mount, NC; four very special women in her life: Cindy Long Gary, Mattie Bryant, Penny Rogers, and Cathlean Cooper; and of course, her canine bodyguard: Buddy “Cutts”; Linda was an adopted mother and grandmother to those that were honored to call her Ma Linda, Grandma Linda, or Mama Cutts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Visitation for Mrs. Cutts will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, on Saturday, December 9, 2017 in the Roanoke Rapids Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 10, 2017, also in the Roanoke Rapids Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home. The Interment will take place immediately after the Service in the Allen Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Halifax, NC.
