Lillie B. Strickland, daughter of the late Cara and Lucinda McCann was born on September 8, 1930 in Rocky Mount,North Carolina. She departed this life on December 30, 2017
at Nash UNC Health Care in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

Lillie attended Nash County Public Schools. After many years of hard work, she retired at age sixty-five. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member and mother of Victory In Christ Ministry of Rocky Mount, North Carolina where she always had encouraging words and enjoyed going until her health declined.

Lillie was united in Holy Matrimony to Matthew Strickland, Sr. on December 31, 1948. to this union twelve children were born.

She was a quiet loving person that loved and enjoyed her family and friends. She touched and blessed a lot of lives. She will be greatly missed.

Lillie was preceded in death by one sister, Myrtle Williams; one brother, Cara McCann; daughter, Carolyn Mitchell and son,Matthew Strickland, Jr.

She leaves to cherish precious memories to her husband of sixty-nine years, Matthew Strickland, Sr. of Rocky Mount, NC;eight daughters, Evelyn Carter (Alford) of Omaha, NE, Elizabeth Strickland, Brenda Tillman (Allan) of Clayton, NC, Betty Strickland of Princeville, NC, Lillie Avent, Theresa Marshall (Brian) of Rocky Mount, NC, Dorothy Lee and Marilyn Edmonds (Carlos) of Nashville, NC; two sons, James Strickland (Katherine) of Chesapeake, VA, Donald Ray Strickland (Joann) of Charlotte, NC; one sister-in-law, Odessa Kaye Morris of Nashville, NC, twenty-two grandchildren, forty-two great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, two special young ladies, Mrya and Karen Jones whom she took under her wing as her daughters along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Visitation for Mrs. Strickland will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with the Funeral Service following the Visitation, beginning at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 6, 2018 in the Rocky Mount Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home, 325 Nash St., Rocky Mount, NC. The Interment will take place immediately after the Service in New St. John Church Cemetery in Red Oak, NC.
