Rocky Mount, NC
Inez Powell, affectionately known as Momma, Ma, Mum, Mommy, Nanny
and Grams was born on June 8, 1936 in Council, North Carolina to the late
Luther Walter McKoy and Lizzie Blue McKoy.
On Monday, February 19, 2018 at 11:42 a.m. in Rocky Mount, North Carolina at her residence, God chose to call her home in peace from the arms of her devoted daughter, Dora into the arms of her loving parents and cherished siblings.
Nanny accepted Christ in her life in 1966 and became a member of Peterson Deliverance Center where she was president of the Usher Board for fifty-two years un the fearless leadership of Apostle Willie S. Darden.
Nanny followed her church family to North Carolina in 1980 where she stayed active for many years at a couple of the local businesses.
In 1988 she decided to relocate to Tampa, Florida to become a full-time grandmother to the next generation.
Tampa was where she started implementing into the New Generation the ways of the Bible and Gods expectations for our lives. Through her wisdom and experience, she walked the next generation through Gods walk of life and how living right and honorably, you will reap your just rewards.
As time grew on, Nanny grew weary being away from her North Carolina home of family, friends and loved ones. In 1992, Nanny decided to pack it all up, leave the Sunshine State and head back home where she spent the remainder of her years with a host of family, church family, loved ones and friends.
In addition to her parents, Nanny was preceded in death by her siblings, Albert McKoy, John Walter McKoy, Lynwood McKoy, Gladys Hardin McKoy and infant son, Earl DeWayne Powell.
Left to cherish her memory and carry on the honor and respect of her name are her children: Dora Williams (James) of Rocky Mount, NC, James Powell (Maureen) of Sharpsburg, NC, Eddie Powell of Rocky Mount, NC, and Thelma Wilson of Durham, NC; seven grandchildren, John Hyman of Charlotte,NC, Michael Veal and Jessica McQueen of Rocky Mount, NC, Nisaa El-Amin and Jasmine Powell of Tampa, FL, Anastaasia El-Amin and Zariyyah Ward of Durham, NC and Jus’tus Powell of Rocky Mount, NC; fourteen great grands, Jada Hyman of Charlotte, NC, Isiah Powell of Rocky Mount, NC, Nevaeh and
Kaliyah Williams, Aaliyah and Kanaan Duncan all of Tampa, FL, Brycen Gibson of Durham, NC and numerous other beloved great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

I want to send my deepest sympathy to the family of Mrs. Inez M. Powell.
The bible tells us we can gain comfort from God, even during times of sorrow. We can pray to our heavenly father for help to cope with the sorrow felt from the death of a loved one.
By prayer and supplication, let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6
The bible also promises that God “will wipe out every tear from [our] eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.” (Revelation 21:4) How comforting and reassuring that is! May you find comfort by relying on our heavenly father and learning more about the blessings of God's kingdom.

My sincerest condolences and sympathy. I would like to take this moment to share with you God’s wonderful promise and assurance that we will be able to see our dear loved ones again through the resurrection hope. (Acts 24:14, John 5:28,29) As you mourn the loss of your dear family member, it is reassuring to know that the words of Jehovah, our Creator (Revelation 4:11), always find complete fulfillment (Isaiah 55:11). May these scriptures and this faith strengthening video give you comfort and hope during this time.

To the Inez Powell family: I am sorry to read of your loss. We are never prepared for the passing of our loved ones, and this is because we were not created to die. Our Creator created mankind to live forever. Soon God will return the earth back to a paradise and much asleep in death will be able to live on earth eternally. Please read in your Bible Ecclesiastes 3:11 and John 5:28-29 for comfort from God’s words.
