Mr. Lawrence Hugh Davis



Rocky Mount, NC

On March 9, 2018 at the close of seventy-one years and one day the Lord God saw fit to call from labor to reward His Servant, Brother Lawrence Hugh Davis. Born to the late Roscoe J. Davis, Sr. and the late Ernestine Lawrence Davis.

The first son and third child of six, Lawrence was nurtured and brought to Christ from his beginning by his parents, and in 1958 he received the Lord Christ as Savior and King and continued this walk unto death.

Educated in the Rocky Mount City Schools System, Graduated from the Booker T. Washington Sr. High School in 1965. He served the United States Army from 1967 to 1969 receiving an honorable discharge.

Lawrence worked as an expert mechanist-trainer for Torpedo Wire for thirty years, but the love of working was caring for his yard where he spent countless hours day and night.

The Love of his life was manifested in his wife Diana Savage Davis of thirty-one years February 14 th and their two sons Marcus and Marcellus Davis.

Upon retirement, Lawrence’s love for Christ and the Word of God was greatly provoked and daily study was needful as he took great pride in Sunday School and disseminating the Word of God to others.

Lawrence leaves to cherish his earthly life, his wife, Diana Savage Davis of the home, sons; Marcus Davis and Marcellus Davis of the home; Sisters; Joyce J. Exum (Ulysses Sr.) of Piscataway NJ, Jamerson E. Smith (Bruce) of Raleigh, NC, Ernestine J. Knight (Victor Jr.) of Raleigh NC; Brothers; Rev. Roscoe J. Davis, Jr. (Darcel) of Raleigh NC, and Haywood C. Davis of Piscataway NJ. Sisters-in- law; Carolyn Davis of St. Thomas Virgin Island US, Rebecca Whyte (Awsan) of Rocky Mount, NC, Brothers; Kenneth Savage of
Rocky Mount NC, Theodore Savage (Deborah) of Raleigh, NC, Elmore Savage (Angela) of Enfield NC, Ricky Savage (Matiess) of Salisbury, NC, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and very special friends.

A Visitation for Mr. Davis will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, with the Funeral Service following the Visitation, beginning at 12:00 noon, on Friday, March 16, 2018 at St. James Baptist Church, 527 E. Thomas St, in Rocky Mount, NC. The Interment will take place immediately following the service in Rocky Memorial Park, Rocky Mount, NC.
