Mrs. Beatrice M. Hendricks

Roanoke Rapids, NC

Mrs. Beatrice Manley Hendricks, 94, of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, was born on October 31, 1923 in Halifax County, North Carolina. She was the sixth child of eight born to the late John Henry Manley and Myrene Solomon Manley. She departed this life at 1:00 pm at Liberty Commons Nursing Home in Weldon, North Carolina on May 24, 2018.

She received her education in the Halifax County Public School system at Bear Swamp and Eastman High School in Enfield, North Carolina.

At an early age, she joined Walter’s Chapel Holiness Church of Essex, North Carolina. Later, she moved her membership to the Cornerstone Holy Church in Littleton, North Carolina and remained a faithful member until her health began to decline.

In February of 1942, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late George E. Hendricks. To this union, they were blessed with 11 children: five daughters and six sons. Four preceded her in death: Rozenia Harvey (Robert), Nolgene Hendricks, George Raymond Hendricks, and George A. Hendricks; son-in-law: Julius Dent; daughter-in-law: Gloria Hendricks; two sisters: Mary F. Williams and Robenia McDaniels; five brothers: Thurman Manley, John H. Manley, Linwood Manley, James I. Manley, and Nathaniel Manley.

She was a virtuous woman, always helping others, respectful, humble, and always had a good word to say. She loved the Lord and her church. Just as Proverbs 31:10 says, “Who can find a virtuous woman?”

Beatrice leaves to forever cherish her memories, her seven children: Alma M. Dent of Nashville, NC, Dorothy R. McNeill (John) and Charles L. Hendricks, both of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Elouise Martin (Richard), James L. Hendricks, and Calvin Hendricks, all of Newport News, VA, and Leslie Hendricks (Deborah) of Wilson, NC; daughter-in-law: Betty Hendricks of Stantonburg, NC; ten grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Bernice Manley of Enfield, NC and Beauford Harvey of Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
