Obituary

Charles Franklin Richardson entered into eternal rest on Tuesday,August 7, 2018. Charles F. Richardson was born on February 27, 1938 to the late Woodrow and Siddie Richardson of Nash County, North Carolina.

He attended and graduated from public schools of Nash County. At an early age he professed his faith in Jesus Christ at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church where he was a dedicated member.

In 1959 Charles began his military career with the United States Army where he spent his time as a proud member of the Elite 82nd Airborne Division, Special Operations. During his time of service, he served in the Vietnam War and received numerous Decorations,
Medals, Badges, Citations and Campaign Ribbons. Charles was an active member of the Department of Connecticut Disabled Veterans Administration. He was an avid reader who loved books about history and old westerns. He loved to watch Football, Basketball, and
Old Western movies. Previously, he had a passion for gardening and yard work but nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his granddaughters.

Charles was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Evelyn Andrews-Richardson; sister, Geraldine Richardson; brothers, Russell Richardson and John T. Richardson.

He was united in holy matrimony to Bettie Jean Brake in December of 1962. This union was blessed with two sons and a daughter.

Charles will forever be loved by those of us he left behind. He is survived by his former spouse, Bettie J. Richardson; daughter, Jacqueline D. Richardson; sons, James E. Richardson (Tonya Richardson) and Charles F. Richardson, Jr., (Teresa Richardson); granddaughters, Amber Richardson, Nadiya Grant, Jamira Richardson and Jasmine Richardson; five brothers, three sisters, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

He will be missed by the many friends he touched that we now consider family. We will all miss the joy and love he brought into our lives.

A Visitation for Mr. Richardson will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, with the Funeral Service following the Visitation, beginning at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 17, 2018, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 305 Halifax Rd, in Rocky Mount, NC. The Interment will take place immediately after the service at Gardens of Gethsemane in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

These professional services have been entrusted to H.D. Pope Funeral Home, located at 325 Nash Street in Rocky Mount, NC.
