Obituary

Rocky Mount, NC

Mary Lee Jones Arrington, the daughter of the late Rebecca Pitt Jones and Moses Jones was born on June 3, 1933 and deported this life on September 9, 2018 in the home. She was educated from Nash County Public Schools.

Mary Arrington accepted Christ at an early age. She joined Rocky Mount Deliverance Center under the Pastoralship of Pastor Mary Barnes. She later joined Power House COGIC in 1983 where the Pastor is Superintendent Charlie Frink Jr. and was a faithful
member for 35 years. She served on the following auxiliaries: Senior Usher Board, District Prayer Warrior for the Upward Bound District, Mother’s Board, Zion Gospel Choir, President of the Soul Winning Team and Track Distribution, participant of Bible Study, and Noon Day Prayer. She also served as a volunteer with the church every second Sunday at the Longleaf Neurological Center of Wilson, NC (formally the NC Special Care Center) for 32 years. She was awarded recipient of the 2016 Mother of the Year Contest for the NC Second COGIC Jurisdiction where the State Women’s Supervisor is Mother Patricia D. Lofton and Presiding Prelate is Bishop Stenneth E. Powell. She remained a faithful member till the end.

Mary was united in holy matrimony to Paul Arrington for over fifty years. To the union a blessing of twelve children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul
Arrington; her sons Thomas Earl Arrington, Paul Arrington Jr., Norris Arrington, Michael Arrington, and Alexander Arrington; three sisters Marie Bandy, Laura Jones, and Mozella Banks; three brothers Garland Jones, Larry Jones, and Clifton Jones.

She leaves to cherish her memories four daughters Doris Arrington of New York, Betty (William) Britten of Orlando, FL, Yvonne Burnette of Apopka, FL, and Angela (Timmie) of
Elm City, NC; three sons Jimmie (Michelle) Arrington of Rocky Mount, NC, Frederick Arrington of Nashville, NC, Llewellyn Arrington of Apopka, FL; three daughters-in law
Glenda Arrington, Michelle Arrington, and Janice Arrington McCann; two brothers in-law Raymond Arrington, Jonny Banks Sr. of Nashville, NC; three sisters in-law Willie Belle Arrington, Peggy Arrington of Nashville, NC, Laura Jones of Rocky Mount, NC; twenty-one grandchildren, a host of great and great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends;

A Visitation for Mrs. Arrington will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, September 21, 2018, in the Rocky Mount Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Power House Church of God in Christ, 8737 Hwy 58, in Elm City,NC. The interment will take place immediately following the service in the Gardens of Gethsemane Cemetery in Rocky Mount.
