Joseph Edward Parker, Sr., departed this life on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at his

He was preceded in death by is father, Harry “Slim” Parker, Sr. and his brother, Boisey
Lee Parker.

Joe was educated in the Edgecombe County School System.

Joe was raised in a Christian home and he gave his life to Christ in his twenties. His
spiritual journey began at Mount Herman Baptist Church, Rev. Johnnie Thorne,
followed by Showers of Blessings Christian Center, Dr. Bernard Grant, and his present
church home is God’s Miracle Center, Apostle Nekeba Allen.

Joe was always a dedicated and hard worker. He was strong and unique person to say
the least. Joe was of course one of the Parker boy’s that was known by all in his
neighborhood; that everyone feared in playing basketball. Joe was unique, loving,
kind, and faithful man to his family and friends. He loved family and made sure that he
made contact and visits with everyone often. He was full of hard work, sweat, tears,
love, joy, and determination. Joe fought the good fight of faith and he will truly be
missed. We know that he is at peace and he has entered this eternal rest. His name and
memories have been etched into many lives and he will never be forgotten.

Joe leaves a legacy to be proud of; the love of his life Christine Parker; two daughters,
Vernique Battle of Rocky Mount, NC and Lutoya Battle of Raleigh, NC; two sons,
Joseph Edward Parker, Jr. and Christopher Adam Parker both of Rocky Mount, NC;
two granddaughters that were his heart, Ny-Asia Shantia Battle and Kieren Chanta
Battle both of Raleigh, NC; his mother, Maggie A. Parker; one sister Deloris Parker
Richardson (Tim) of Rocky Mount, NC; five brothers, Harry Parker, Jr. (Carolyn),
William Earl Parker (Ann), Ronald Lane Parker (Judy), Michael Parker and David
James Parker all of Rocky Mount, NC; sisters-in-law, Gloria Bandy (Andrew) and
Carolyn Battle both of Tarboro, NC; James Langley, Leon Battle, Anthony Battle , and
Carl Battle all of Tarboro, NC; Jimmy Battle of Greensboro, NC and Paul Battle of
Rocky Mount, NC; a niece who was like a daughter to him, Chrystal Denetrice Arnold
of Washington State; other special nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; along
with other aunts, uncles, relatives and friends

A Visitation for Mr. Parker will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with the Funeral Service following the Visitation, beginning at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Showers of Blessing Christian Center, 1740 E. Raleigh Blvd, in Rocky Mount, NC. The Interment will take place privately.
